Israeli occupation authorities have issued new military orders seizing more than 130 dunams of Palestinian land across parts of the occupied West Bank, in a move that Palestinian officials say deepens territorial control at a time of intensifying pressure on Palestinian communities. The confiscations affect land in the governorates of Jenin Governorate and Salfit Governorate, areas where Palestinian farmers have long relied on agricultural land that now faces growing restrictions.
Most of the land was taken from areas belonging to the town of Arraba, Jenin Governorate, where military orders authorised the seizure of large tracts to expand an existing Israeli military site east of the town. Additional land was appropriated for the construction of a road linked to the same installation. Palestinian observers say such measures frequently begin under the justification of military necessity before leading to deeper structural control over surrounding territory.
Further south, another order targeted land in the town of Deir Istiya, Salfit Governorate. The confiscation there was linked to the construction of a security road near the Israeli settlement of Ariel settlement, which is built on land Palestinians say was originally taken from surrounding villages. Land monitoring groups warn that new roads and military zones often serve as precursors to expanding settlement infrastructure.
Palestinian organisations tracking land policies say the latest orders reflect a continuing pattern in which agricultural land, trees and open areas are gradually absorbed into military or settlement systems. They argue that the steady loss of land places further strain on Palestinian communities and undermines the territorial foundations necessary for a future Palestinian state, particularly as the wider genocidal war against Palestinians continues to shape realities across the region.
