Water Shortages Deepen in Gaza as Infrastructure Collapse Leaves Millions at Risk

A rapidly worsening water crisis is placing immense strain on daily life in Gaza Strip, where access to safe water has become increasingly limited for the population. Local authorities warn that the situation has reached critical levels, urging immediate international measures to restore essential services and prevent further deterioration amid an ongoing genocidal war.

Water production has dropped dramatically as wells, pumping stations and desalination facilities fall out of operation due to extensive damage and prolonged power shortages. Large sections of water and sanitation infrastructure are no longer functioning, leaving communities dependent on unsafe or irregular supplies, heightening the risk of disease and public health emergencies.

Officials emphasise that access to clean water remains a fundamental human right, warning that the continued disruption disproportionately affects vulnerable groups, particularly children. With conditions worsening, calls are intensifying for urgent international intervention to repair infrastructure and ensure accountability for the deepening humanitarian crisis.
