A group of 152 Israeli settlers entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound on Tuesday morning through the Mughrabi Gate, under tight protection from Israeli forces. According to local religious authorities, the group moved through the courtyards and carried out religious rituals in the eastern section of the site.
During the entry, several individuals were reported to have raised Israeli flags near the Dome of the Rock, while security forces imposed strict measures on Palestinian worshippers attempting to access the compound. Identity documents were reportedly checked and temporarily confiscated at the outer gates, restricting entry for many.
The developments come amid calls from settler groups for a larger mobilisation later in the week, coinciding with Israeli national commemorations. These calls include plans for further entries into the site and symbolic displays within its grounds. Restrictions have also affected religious practices, with reports indicating that the evening call to prayer was prevented the previous day during official events held in the area.
The situation has prompted increased calls among Palestinians to maintain a continuous presence at the site, amid warnings of further large-scale entries in the coming days, as tensions continue to rise in the context of the ongoing genocidal war.
