In the early hours of Monday, Israeli forces carried out a large-scale military incursion north of occupied Jerusalem, focusing on Qalandiya refugee camp and the town of Kafr ‘Aqab. The operation involved extensive house-to-house searches, forced evacuations of residents, and the temporary conversion of several civilian apartments into military-use spaces. The developments come amid an intensifying genocidal war environment across the occupied territories, with repeated incursions into densely populated civilian areas.
Residents described a sudden and forceful entry into residential buildings around dawn. One man from Qalandiya camp recounted being awakened at approximately 3:30 a.m. as troops entered his seven-storey block, searched every apartment, and ordered all families to leave. The building was subsequently taken over and declared a restricted military site. He described an atmosphere of sustained fear among children, who now associate night-time with explosions and military raids rather than normal daily routines such as attending school.
Across Qalandiya, Al-Ram and Kafr ‘Aqab, similar patterns were reported: repeated entries into homes, damage to property including broken doors and vandalised interiors, and widespread disruption to daily life. A local clinic operated by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine refugees was also damaged during the incursion, with its entrance door destroyed. Residents say the cumulative effect of these actions has rendered normal civilian life almost impossible in several neighbourhoods.
Medical sources reported that at least four people were injured after being beaten during the operations, while dozens more were detained, including individuals previously held as prisoners. The detentions were accompanied by searches and field interrogations, alongside notices issued for the demolition of numerous residential and commercial buildings on the grounds of unlicensed construction, further heightening concerns over the future of the area’s housing and economic stability.
Local authorities in Jerusalem warned that the repeated incursions, property destruction and forced displacement practices amount to grave violations of international law, including the Fourth Geneva Convention. They argue that the lack of international accountability is enabling the continuation and expansion of these measures, which they say are reshaping the demographic and physical landscape of the area through force.
Separately, medical teams reported treating several individuals injured during the events, while confirming the scale of physical harm and distress caused during the night operations. Across the wider West Bank, dozens of arrests were recorded in parallel raids concentrated in the same northern Jerusalem area.
