SAFA - Israeli occupation forces continued punitive measures in the village of Tell, southwest of Nablus, on Sunday after announcing plans to demolish the homes of two Palestinians accused of carrying out a shooting attack near the village. The measures came as the village entered its third consecutive day under military siege.

In a statement, the Israeli forces, together with the Israeli Security Agency (Shin Bet), carried out engineering surveys of the two homes as part of preparations to seal and later demolish them, in accordance with Israeli legal and administrative procedures.

They said one of the homes belongs to a Palestinian accused of carrying out the shooting attack who was killed at the site. The second belongs to another Palestinian whom Israel says participated in the attack and was later arrested during a raid by the Duvdevan special forces unit in Nablus.

For the third day in a row, Israeli occupation forces have tightly besieged Tell, raiding and searching dozens of homes while detaining a number of locals. The ongoing operations have heightened fear and anxiety among villagers, particularly women and children.

Walid Zaidan, head of the Tell Village Council, said residents are enduring difficult conditions as Israeli military incursions and settler attacks continue. He added that the raids have included house searches and damage to private property.

The latest measures came after four Palestinians were killed in Tell following a wave of settlers’ attacks that targeted the village.

During attempts by residents to defend their homes and village, an Israeli officer and a soldier were killed.
