SAFA- Israeli occupation forces have continued targeting residential areas across the Gaza Strip, with Palestinian officials warning that airstrikes are increasingly destroying entire neighborhoods rather than isolated buildings, deepening the devastation and worsening conditions for civilians.

Residential neighborhoods across Gaza have repeatedly come under Israeli bombardment, destroying homes, damaging critical infrastructure, and forcing more Palestinians from their shelters amid widespread destruction.

Mahmoud Bassal, spokesperson for Gaza's Civil Defense, said Israeli occupation forces have recently intensified strikes on multi-story residential buildings, with the impact often extending far beyond the intended target.

Bassal said Civil Defense crews have documented repeated cases in which buildings located in civilian neighborhoods or near shelters for displaced Palestinians were struck, triggering the collapse of surrounding structures and damaging nearby tents and facilities.

He cited one recent strike on a five-story residential building that destroyed six neighboring buildings, while another attack near Al-Ahli Arab Hospital caused extensive damage to tents sheltering displaced families. He said Israeli occupation forces are increasingly targeting entire residential blocks rather than individual buildings.

Bassal warned that the continued destruction of housing is rapidly shrinking Gaza's remaining habitable areas and making it increasingly difficult for Palestinians to restore even the most basic living conditions.

He added that the repeated attacks have inflicted severe psychological trauma on civilians, noting that strikes targeting activity inside a single apartment often devastate entire surrounding neighborhoods.

Bassal said claims of a ceasefire do not reflect conditions on the ground, saying that Israeli bombardment, killings, and destruction have continued at varying levels. He added that Israeli occupation forces continue to use heavy explosives and warplanes that inflict widespread damage across residential areas.

Political analyst Mohammad Shaheen said the destruction of residential blocks reflects a broader strategy of systematically dismantling Palestinian civilian life, saying that the attacks are intended to spread fear and increase pressure on residents to leave.

Shaheen said the destruction of entire neighborhoods undermines daily life, weakens Gaza's social and economic fabric, and further delays reconstruction efforts.

He added that the continued attacks have displaced more families, damaged healthcare, education, and housing infrastructure, and pushed increasing numbers of Palestinians to rely on limited humanitarian assistance amid the ongoing blockade.

Shaheen said the ongoing strikes underscore the scale of destruction across Gaza, saying that the killing of civilians and the systematic devastation of living conditions have left the population facing catastrophic consequences.

He warned that continued attacks on residential areas undermine ceasefire efforts and make any lasting stability or recovery increasingly difficult while widespread destruction persists.
