SAFA- Labor MP Andy McDonald called for decisive official and economic sanctions against "Israel," demanding a halt to trade and financial dealings with products from settlements established on occupied Palestinian territories in the West Bank.
McDonald affirmed that the continuation of trade relations with illegal settlements, according to international law, contributes to supporting and entrenching the Israeli occupation, calling on the British government to take practical measures to end forms of economic and political cooperation that contribute to solidifying the settlement project.
He pointed out that the ban on trade with settlements is a necessary step to fulfill the United Kingdom's commitments to international law, emphasizing the need to move from political stances to practical measures that put an end to dealings with settlement activities.
The British MP's statements come amid increasing parliamentary and popular pressure within the United Kingdom on the British government to impose a comprehensive ban on the import and trade of products from the "Israeli" settlements established in the occupied West Bank, considering them illegal settlements under international law.
