Palestine Center for Prisoners Studies has warned of the martyrdom of the sick prisoner, Hussein Al-Masalmeh, 37, from Bethlehem, in the northern West Bank, after the deterioration of his health condition at the Israeli Soroka Medical Center.

“The prisoner Al-Masalmeh suffers from leukemia due to the accumulation of medical negligence against him and not providing him with any real medical care for years,” said the center on Tuesday in a statement reached Safa.

The prisoner had been complaining of abdominal pain during the previous period without going to a specialized doctor until the cancer had taken hold of his body.

Although Al-Masalmeh’s condition is considered one of the most dangerous conditions in the Israeli prisons, he, unconsciously, sits bound by his hands and feet in the hospital bed and he breath with medical devices and is threatened with death at any moment.

Moreover, the Israeli authorities refuse to, exceptionally, release him, even though he has served most of his 20-year sentence in order to abuse and oppress him more and more.

According to the center, the prisoner Al-Masalmeh has been detained since 2002 and he supposed to be released after several months.
