US “Freedom Caravan” Heads to Washington Demanding End to Arms Transfers and Military Aid to Israel

SAFA — A group of American activists is traveling across the United States as part of the “Freedom Caravan 2026,” demanding an end to US military funding and arms transfers to Israel while calling on Washington to redirect taxpayer money toward urgent domestic needs, including healthcare, housing, education, and childcare.

The caravan, comprising 42 participants, departed from outside the Israeli Consulate in Los Angeles and is scheduled to arrive in Washington, D.C., on October 26, following a 10-day journey across the country, according to US media reports.

Organizers say the delegation includes representatives of faith-based organizations, former government employees, and military veterans who have joined the campaign to challenge continued American military and financial support for Israel amid its genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.

Along the route, participants are holding community meetings to discuss US military assistance to Israel, the allocation of American taxpayer funds, and the consequences of Washington's support for Israeli military operations against Palestinians.

The caravan is passing through several major cities, including Las Vegas, Flagstaff, Albuquerque, Amarillo, Tulsa, St. Louis, and Chicago, before completing the final leg of its journey to the nation's capital.

Activists to Deliver Petition to Congress Ahead of Midterm Elections

Upon arriving in Washington, members of the caravan plan to deliver a petition titled “We the People” to congressional offices, urging lawmakers to reconsider US military assistance and weapons transfers to Israel.

The petition is scheduled to be presented just days before the November 3 midterm elections, as organizers seek to bring the issue of American support for Israel into the national political debate.

The campaign argues that federal resources should be directed toward improving the lives of Americans rather than financing military operations abroad, particularly as communities across the country struggle with rising living costs, housing insecurity, healthcare expenses, and education funding challenges.

Organizers are also defending the right to criticize Israeli government policies without facing attempts to silence dissent, while questioning the influence of pro-Israel lobbying organizations on US political decision-making.

Growing Pressure to End US Military Support for Israel

The initiative comes amid mounting public debate over Washington's military and financial assistance to Israel, alongside continued protests against Israel's genocidal war on Gaza and growing demands for greater accountability over the use of American weapons.

Through public meetings and direct engagement with communities across the country, caravan participants hope to draw attention to the consequences of US military support for Israel and encourage Americans to question how their tax dollars are being spent.

The campaign also seeks to connect opposition to arms transfers with demands for stronger investment in public services, emphasizing that healthcare, housing, education, and childcare should take priority in federal spending decisions.

As the caravan approaches Washington, organizers hope their petition and nationwide mobilization will increase pressure on Congress to reassess US policy toward Israel and respond to growing calls for an end to American weapons transfers and military funding.
