On International Women's Day, how Palestinian female prisoners survive in Israeli jails?

The prisoner club confirmed that the Israeli authorities are still detaining 35 Palestinian prisoners, including 11 mothers.

The Club on Sunday added in a statement reached Safa on the International Women's Day, which corresponds to the eighth of March, that 26 prisoners were sentenced to varying periods of imprisonment, the highest among them were against the two prisoners, Shorouq Dwekat and Shatilla Ayyad, who were sentenced to 16 years.

Besides, 3 prisoners are under administrative detention, while there are 8 injured prisoners, as Amal Taqatqa, who is sentenced to 7 years, is the oldest injured prisoner.

It was confirmed that female prisoners are subjected to all kinds of abuse and torture, starting from arrests from homes to transportation to detention and investigation centers, and later detention in prisons.

The year 2019, particularly, witnessed an escalation in the systematic torture of female prisoners, compared to the few years preceding it.

Since the beginning of the spread of the Coronavirus, the female prisoners have faced double isolation due to the irregularity of visits. Also, despite the repeated requests, over the past year, to allow them to make phone calls with their families, the Israeli prison administration refuses to allow them to do so.

From 2015 until the end of January 2021, the number of arrests among women reached more than 900.
