The Organization of Islamic Cooperation has condemned the attacks of the Israeli forces and extremist settler groups on the Palestinians in the Holy City of Jerusalem, which resulted in the injury and arrest of dozens of them.

In a statement, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held Israel, the occupying power, full responsibility for the consequences of the continuation of such provocative attacks, which promote violence, tension, and hatred, and require international protection for the Palestinian people.

The organization denounced Israel’s attempts to prevent Palestinian citizens of Jerusalem from participating in the Palestinian democratic electoral process.

Besides, the international community was called on to support the holding of these elections in all parts of the Palestinian Territories, including the city of Jerusalem, and to provide the means for their success.

The organization affirmed its position in supporting the Palestinian electoral process as a political and legal entitlement that contributes to stabilizing the Palestinian people on their land and confirms their right to self-determination and the realization of the sovereignty of the State of Palestine on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital.
