Arab Parliament condemns ethnic cleansing in Sheikh Jarrah

The Arab Parliament condemned the crime of ethnic cleansing carried out by the Israeli occupation forces through forced displacement and the evacuation of 28 homes inhabited by 500 Palestinian citizens in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied Jerusalem, in preparation for the establishment of new Israeli settlement units in their place.

The Parliament affirmed in a statement, a copy of which obtained by Safa, that this constitutes a complete crime of ethnic cleansing in full view of the whole world and the international community, noting that these homes were legally established for Palestinian refugees who were forcibly displaced from their homes in 1948.

"The use of force, violence, and terror by the Israeli occupation forces to expel Palestinians from their homes and replace them with illegal Israeli settlements is a challenge to the United Nations and the international community as a whole, and a violation of the relevant Geneva Conventions. In addition, it is a war crime and a crime against humanity in accordance with the principles and provisions of the International," the statement underlined.

Meanwhile, the Parliament held the occupation leaders responsible for this racist crime and held the international community with legal, humanitarian and moral responsibility for silence and failure to address such crimes.

It called on the international community to take immediate action and to oblige the Israeli occupation authorities to stop these crimes, and to hold the perpetrators of these crimes accountable in order to achieve justice for the Palestinian people against whom all war crimes and crimes against humanity are being practiced.
