Plan to add 534 units to settlement south Nablus

The official in charge of the settlement file in the northern occupied West Bank, Ghassan Daghlas, stated that the occupation plans to expand the "Shivut Rachel" settlement, which is built on the lands of Jalud village, south of Nablus.

Douglas told Safa that the occupation authorities announced, through the so-called Supreme Planning Council in its Civil Administration, the deposit of a large plan to expand the "Shivut Rachel" settlement and doubling its size fivefold by adding 534 new settlement units to it.

According to the documents published by the occupation, plan No. 205/2/2 to expand the settlement, which was established in 1991 on so-called state land, was approved.

The documents indicate that on May 30, 2021, the new plan for the “Shivut Rachel” settlement was approved by the Higher Planning Council in the Civil Administration.

According to the plan, the new settlement units will be built on an area of 376 dunums of the lands of the villages of Jalud and Turmusaya.

The new settlement plan aims to change the allocation of land from agricultural land to residential areas A, B, and C, an area for buildings, public and commercial institutions, open spaces, engineering facilities, a future planning area, and roads.

He said that the announcement of the occupation allowed the landowners affected by the settlement plan to submit their objections within impossible conditions that they could not provide within 60 days from the date of publishing the plan.
