Sheikh Al-Taweel continues his open strike for 19th day


The prisoner, the leader of Hamas movement, Sheikh Jamal Al-Taweel, 59, from Ramallah, continues his open hunger strike for the 19th consecutive day, rejecting the Israeli occupation’s continued detention and administrative detention of his daughter several months ago.

Al-Taweel prisoner had confirmed from inside his prison that his continued detention and the arrest of his daughter, Bushra, would be faced through the battle of empty intestines.

The Israeli occupation forces arrested the journalist Al-Taweel on November 9, 2020, while she was passing through a military checkpoint.

A number of Palestinian journalists and activists on Sunday organized a protest against the continued administrative detention of journalist Bushra Al-Taweel.

The Military Occupation Court transferred Al-Taweel prisoner to administrative detention on June 7, 2021, for six months.

Al-Taweel leader spent 14 years in the occupation prisons, and his wife was arrested on February 8, 2010, and released on February 1, 2011, after spending a year in the occupation prisons.

Sheikh Al-Taweel is one of the candidates of the Jerusalem our Destination list for the legislative elections, which the occupation forces are pursuing and so far arrested 10 of its candidates in the occupied West Bank after Al-Taweel was arrested along with 10 other candidates in prisons.
