The Prime Minister, Mohammad Shtayyeh, said on Monday that the total amount Israel has deducted from the clearing funds has amounted to 851 million shekels since 2019.
“At the beginning of the weekly government session, the occupation will deduct 51 million shekels per month. The deduction is against the background of the obligation to pay the dues to the families of the martyrs and the wounded,” Shtayyeh added.
Shtayyeh called on the countries of the world to intervene to stop the illegal deduction of funds by the occupation, adding that the government will study the necessary measures to confront the decision.
He stressed that "the deduction of funds puts the government in a difficult position, in light of the failure to disburse donor funds this year while continuing to fund Jerusalem, the Gaza Strip, and Area C."
In addition, the government had to borrow from banks to meet its obligations and this is unnatural and unsustainable.
