The Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Committee confirmed in a report issued on Tuesday that the prisoner Nasser Abu Hamid, 49, from Al-Amari camp in Ramallah in the central occupied West Bank is currently being held in the Israeli Barzilai Hospital with poor and disturbing health conditions.
The prisoner, Abu Hamid, explained to the Committee’s lawyer after visiting him in the hospital that he had been suffering from severe chest pain and severe coughing spells that made him vomit for three weeks.
He stressed that throughout his suffering during the past few days, the prison administration did not care about his pain and neglected his condition.
Abu Hamid added that about a week ago, his health deteriorated, as a result he was transferred to the Ramleh prison clinic, and medical examinations were conducted for the chest and lungs, and it was found that there was a mass of cells in the left lung.
Abu Hamid stated that doctors in the hospital are providing him with antibiotics and fluids intravenously, but so far he has not felt any improvement in his health condition.
It is noteworthy that the prisoner Abu Hamid has been detained since 2002 and is sentenced to seven life imprisonment and 50 years, and he is among five brothers facing life sentences in detention.
Their house was demolished several times by the occupation forces and their mother was deprived of visiting them for several years.
