Two prisoners recount details of their severe arrest violations


The Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Committee reported the testimony of two prisoners languishing in the Etzion detention center, south of Bethlehem, in the southern occupied West Bank, who were severely beaten and abused during their arrests and taken to the detention center.

The Committee indicated that the prisoner Israr Maarouf, 21, from Ain Qinya, Ramallah District, was arrested on August 10, 2021, from his home after midnight.

A number of the occupation soldiers beat him all over his body with legs, iron mats, and rifle butts, causing him many bruises, and severe nosebleeds.

The Committee pointed out that the prisoner suffers from severe knee pain and severe backaches, in addition to his suffering from diabetes.

In a related context, the prisoner Moataz Faisal Assaf, 27, from Qalandia camp, who was arrested on August 12, 2021 after midnight, stated that he was thrown in the face at the moment of arrest by a number of soldiers.

Then they assaulted him severely with legs, hands, and guns, and dragged him to the ground, causing him many bruises and severe pains in the left side of the abdomen.
