Deteriorstion in health condition of a hunger-striker prisoner

The Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Committee said on Monday  that the prisoner Alaa Al-Araj, 34 , from the town of Anabta, Tulkarm district, north of the occupied West Bank, has been on hunger strike for the 23rd consecutive day, rejecting his administrative detention. He suffers from general weakness in his body and cannot stand, and he lost about 30 kg of weight.

The Committee explained in a statement received by Safa that prisoner  Al-Araj refuses to take anything, including medicines, and has been currently in the Jalameh detention center for 10 days and is in dire need to be transferred to the hospital.

Al-Araj has been detained since June 30, 2021, and was also subjected to administrative detention in 2019 for two years.

The Commission called on the international community and its institutions to intervene urgently to release prisoner  Al-Araj, and to put an end to the policy of administrative detention pursued by the Israeli occupation authorities against the Palestinian prisoners, and turned their lives and the lives of their families into a real punishment.
