The Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Committee said the detainee, Alaa Samih al-Araj, 34, from the town of Anabta, Tulkarm district, has been on an open-ended hunger strike for 30 days, rejecting is adminstration detention inside the Jalameh prison.
In a statement received by Safa on Tuesday, the authority stated that the health status of the detainee al-Araj has deteriorated and worsened recently.
The detainee al-Araj suffers from severe stomach and digestive pain, along with a constant headache, and general weakness in the body, especially in his left foot, which he can no longer stand on, and he has lost more than 30 kilos of weight.
The occupation army had arrested the prisoner Alaa on June 30, 2021, and an administrative detention order was issued against him without any charges being brought against him. He is a n ex-detainee who was arrested for two years in 2019.
The Committee called on the international community and its institutions to intervene urgently to release the detainee al-Araj and his hunger striking companions, and to put an end to the policy of administrative detention pursued by the Israeli occupation authorities against Palestinian detainees.
