An Israeli military court, Wednesday, sentenced Spanish Juana Rushmawi, 63, to 13 months' imprisonment after she was convicted of illegally financing a Palestinian non-governmental institution among six organizations designated by the occupation as "terrorist organizations."
Juana Rashmawi served on the Palestinian non-governmental organization Health Action Committees, which was banned by occupation in the West Bank in 2020.
Rachmawi's lawyer, Avigdor Feldman, told AFP that "the Israeli military court upheld the verdict requested by the plaintiffs as part of last week's plea agreement and sentenced her to 13 months in prison and a fine of 50 She'l ($ 16)."
The occupation army had earlier claimed that Rashmawi had acknowledged its role in "raising funds for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine."
However, barrister Feldman denied this, telling journalists that "the accuser did not raise money for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, she was working with the health organization, she brought money for it and she had no idea of transferring money to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine."
The verdict on Rashmawi comes weeks after the Israeli Government classified six Palestinian NGOs as terrorist groups because of their supposed links to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
