Zone Without Laws: Haaretz Investigation Reveals Israel’s Violations in Gaza

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz has exposed alarming testimonies from Israeli officers who served in the Gaza Strip, shedding light on grave violations and crimes, particularly along the Netzarim axis.

According to the commander of the 252nd Brigade, the Netzarim axis was designated a "killing zone," where anyone entering was automatically shot. He revealed that cameras recorded the bodies, with images sent to the command. Of 200 bodies documented, only 10 were identified as belonging to Hamas members.

A reserve officer who served in the same area confirmed orders to shoot anyone crossing the axis directly in the head. He stated, "The horror in Gaza is partly our responsibility as soldiers. We are in a place without laws, where human life has no value."

Further testimonies reported by Haaretz describe the Israeli army in Gaza as operating like an independent militia, disregarding laws and regulations. The newspaper highlighted how officers in Gaza wield unrestricted authority, leading to severe abuses against Palestinian civilians.

These violations extend beyond the Netzarim axis. Recent footage from northern Gaza showed stray dogs scavenging corpses in the streets, with some bodies reduced to skeletal remains.

An Israeli officer urged greater transparency about the events in Gaza, warning of the dangers posed by such unchecked actions among officers and soldiers involved in military operations.
