Australian Writer Urges Europe to End Arms Sales to Israel

Dr. Benoy Kambark, an Australian writer, has called on the European Union to reassess its relationship with Israel, highlighting the grave violations against Palestinian civilians. Writing for the Middle East Monitor, he condemned the EU’s continued arms sales to Israel, which fuel violence in Gaza, despite growing evidence of crimes against humanity.

Kambark criticised some EU nations for their unconditional support of Israel through arms exports, warning that this complicity risks international accountability. While countries like Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands have suspended some arms sales, resistance from states like Germany undermines these efforts. Alarmingly, the EU remains Israel’s second-largest arms supplier after the US.

The writer highlighted a UN report suggesting genocide in Gaza, a classification resisted by the US and certain EU members. He argued that such reluctance undermines justice for Palestinians and complicates the International Court of Justice’s role in addressing these crimes.

As Gaza endures relentless Israeli aggression, Kambark urged Europe to end contradictory policies and impose a full arms embargo on Israel. He called for decisive action to protect Palestinian lives and uphold international law, stressing that silence and inaction enable continued atrocities.
