Escalating Israeli Settler Violence in Bardala Village of Northern Jordan Valley

The Palestinian residents of Bardala village in the northern Jordan Valley have been enduring a surge in violence from Israeli settlers, who are increasingly supported by well-armed Israeli occupation forces. Over the past few days, the village has seen numerous attacks, leading to fierce clashes between the settlers and the villagers.

A recent incident saw a group of Israeli settlers attempt to steal cows from local farmer Jamal Abdul Sawafta in the western part of the village. When the villagers confronted them, violence erupted, leading to widespread unrest in the area.

This attack is just one in a series of incidents involving Israeli settlers. A few days ago, settlers stormed Bardala School with the protection of Israeli occupation forces, resulting in numerous civilian injuries. The settlers have also been involved in the theft of agricultural equipment and resources, including stealing wires that cover an area of 20 dunums of farmland and taking seven water tanks from the farm of Mohammed Suleiman Asafatat.

The situation has been exacerbated by the establishment of a new settlement outpost to the west of Bardala, which has only intensified the fears of the village’s residents. The settlement occupies vast stretches of agricultural land, and its presence has brought with it a wave of harassment and theft. Since the outpost was set up two weeks ago, farmers have faced increasing difficulties accessing their lands. Many have been detained for hours by the Israeli forces for simply approaching the settlement, while others have had their agricultural tools stolen.

The settlers’ movements have become more provocative, crossing through the center of the village to reach the outpost, deliberately instigating tensions with the local Palestinian population. The ongoing violence and intimidation continue to fuel a sense of insecurity and fear among the villagers, who are caught in a constant struggle to protect their land and livelihoods.
