Humanitarian Crisis Deepens as Displaced Palestinians Return to Northern Gaza

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to escalate as half a million displaced Palestinians return to northern Gaza, with many arriving via the Al-Rashid and Salah Al-Din roads over the past 72 hours. These individuals were forcibly displaced following the ongoing violence by the Israeli army.

The Government Media Office (GMO) in Gaza has issued a statement warning that the lack of access to essential aid is worsening the already dire situation. The office has called for immediate and unrestricted entry of humanitarian supplies, including food, shelter, and medical aid. It stressed that the full reopening of border crossings is critical to bringing in essential materials such as tents and caravans for over 250,000 displaced families.

The GMO also highlighted the urgent need for civil defense vehicles and equipment to assist in rescue operations, particularly for recovering the bodies of victims still trapped under the rubble of destroyed homes. Furthermore, the GMO emphasized the importance of allowing infrastructure supplies, including equipment for water, electricity, and sanitation, to prevent the collapse of vital services.
Given the dire conditions, the GMO urged all parties involved to apply pressure on Israel to fulfill its humanitarian obligations and allow the unrestricted entry of aid to prevent further suffering for the Palestinian population.
