Two soldiers were killed and six Israeli occupation army soldiers were wounded to varying degrees in a shooting operation on Tuesday morning near the Tayasir military checkpoint, north of the occupied West Bank. The perpetrator was later announced as a martyr.
Hebrew media reported that the Tayasir area witnessed clashes between a resistance fighter and occupation soldiers.
The perpetrator reached the military checkpoint near Tayasir, fortified himself inside a watchtower, and opened fire toward the soldiers, engaging in a confrontation with them, according to Hebrew media reports, before he was martyred.
Israeli emergency services confirmed that eight Israelis were injured in the shooting near the Tayasir checkpoint, noting that among the injuries were two individuals described as being in "very critical condition" before their deaths were announced.
According to the occupation army's radio, the armed man managed to infiltrate the military compound where soldiers were stationed. The compound is a military outpost containing a fortified watchtower and several buildings where soldiers are located.
Inside the compound, the resistance fighter began shooting, and clashes erupted between him and the forces. The armed confrontation lasted several minutes until eight soldiers were injured, after which the soldiers were able to target him.
