Gaza Municipalities: Disrupted Services and Severe Shortages

Municipal services across Gaza have nearly collapsed due to widespread destruction, lack of fuel, and severe shortages in resources. Residents returning to their destroyed homes face growing crises, including uncollected waste, blocked streets, and a worsening water crisis. In Tel Al-Zaatar and Beit Lahia, debris and garbage pile up unchecked, while residents struggle to access clean water.

In Rafah, families suffer from severe water shortages, making it nearly impossible to meet basic hygiene needs. Gaza City faces an escalating health crisis, with over 170,000 tons of uncollected waste, posing major environmental and health risks. Municipalities warn that they lack the means to address these problems.

The destruction of municipal buildings and the fuel blockade have left key services paralyzed. Jabalia reports sewage flooding residential areas, while Rafah warns of a total service collapse without urgent fuel supplies. Gaza Municipality describes the situation as catastrophic, with roads, water networks, and sewage systems heavily damaged.

Municipalities are urging urgent international intervention to prevent further humanitarian disaster. Without immediate fuel deliveries, Gaza’s water crisis, waste accumulation, and sanitation failures will only worsen, endangering thousands of lives.
