The 2024/2025 school year started in Gaza today, Sunday, despite the severe challenges posed by the ongoing war, destruction, and lack of resources.
The Ministry of Education in Gaza emphasized its commitment to ensuring the right to education for all students. Education will continue through remaining or repaired schools, alternative learning centers, and remote learning via platforms like Teams and Wise School for those unable to attend in person.
The ministry called on teachers, students, parents, and the community to work together to overcome these challenges. It also urged displaced families staying in schools to vacate classrooms for students and appealed to international organizations to pressure Israel to allow educational supplies into Gaza.
Preliminary reports show over 15,000 school-age children and 800 education workers have been killed, with 50,000 students injured. The Israeli assault has destroyed 95% of educational
buildings, leaving 85% out of service, along with over 140 academic institutions.
