Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails face severe mistreatment, even during Ramadan. A freed prisoner, Ibrahim Rabeh Habisha, revealed the shocking iftar meal: a few grains of rice, a spoon of food, and watery tomato "soup." Lawyer Khaled Mahajneh confirmed prisoners receive one cold, insufficient meal before iftar and minimal suhoor—three bread slices for 12 people with a tiny portion of jam or yogurt.
Outrage grew after a video showed Palestinians guessing the meal was for "birds" or "leftovers." Habisha, who spent 23 years in prison, explained this is the daily reality for 9,500 detainees, including women, children, and Gazans held without charge.
Prisoners suffer malnutrition and disease due to neglect and poor food. Despite Ramadan, their conditions remain unchanged, highlighting the urgent need for international action to address their inhumane treatment.
