New Israeli Preconditions Threaten Ceasefire in Gaza

Israel’s Prime Minister has escalated demands for a ceasefire in Gaza, insisting on the disarmament of the Palestinian resistance, the exile of its leaders, and full Israeli control over the besieged territory. These new conditions, announced during a cabinet meeting on Sunday, have been met with outright rejection from Palestinian factions, who view them as red lines that cannot be crossed.

In addition to these demands, Netanyahu openly expressed his government’s intent to implement a forced displacement plan, echoing previous proposals backed by the United States. He described this as a “voluntary emigration” initiative, despite widespread condemnation from international human rights organisations.

Palestinian resistance groups have dismissed the proposal as an illusion, reaffirming their commitment to resisting Israeli aggression until a full cessation of hostilities is achieved. They emphasised their objectives: ending the war, achieving national unity, securing Palestinian rights, and restoring an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

Marking the anniversary of Land Day, Hamas official Khalil al-Hayya condemned global inaction in the face of Israeli atrocities and warned against any attempt to expel Gaza’s residents. He called on Arab and Muslim nations to take meaningful action, as Palestinians continue to endure relentless bombardment, siege, and displacement.
