Nearly 600 days into a brutal war, Gaza is sinking deeper into catastrophe. A suffocating Israeli blockade has sealed off the territory for 69 consecutive days, leaving 2.4 million Palestinians without access to food, fuel, or medicine. The result is a humanitarian disaster on a devastating scale.
According to the Gaza Government Media Office, Israeli forces have blocked over 37,000 aid and fuel trucks since the crossings were closed, causing the collapse of health and relief services. At least 57 people—most of them children—have died from starvation, while nearly 3,500 others are at risk of imminent death. Community kitchens and aid centres have been bombed, stripping the hungry of their last lifeline.
More than two million displaced people are now trapped in flimsy tents, exposed to cold and hunger. Fourteen children have already died from exposure. Gaza’s agricultural sector lies in ruins—92% of farmland has been destroyed, pushing vegetable production into freefall and causing losses of over $1.2 billion.
The siege has also left 60,000 pregnant women without medical care and 350,000 chronically ill patients without life-saving medicine. Electricity, clean water, and basic infrastructure have been decimated.
In the face of this unfolding tragedy, Gaza’s cry for help grows louder. International pressure is mounting, but for those trapped inside, survival now hinges on urgent global action to lift the blockade and deliver aid—before more lives are lost.
