On the 55th day of Israel’s renewed assault on Gaza, the Strip awoke once again to the sound of drones, shelling, and loss. In Khan Younis, families sheltering in makeshift tents were struck without warning. Among the dead: a child, Ahmed Mohammed Nasr Fajjan, killed while seeking refuge in a place already stripped of safety and dignity.
Israeli drone strikes across Al-Mawasi and nearby areas claimed at least ten more lives on Tuesday, including several children and entire families. The Al-Agha family lost three members near Asda City, and the Al-Alami family saw four of its own—including two young boys—killed when a missile shattered their temporary shelter. Their names are now added to the growing list of the dead, alongside Nada Abu Shaqra, another soul buried under the rubble of displacement.
Even bicycles and mosques are no longer spared. A drone strike on a bike injured a man in Al-Amal, and an air raid on a mosque in Jabalia left two more wounded. Israeli tanks continued to open fire east of Gaza City, forcing yet more families to flee—though few places remain to run.
This latest wave of violence follows Israel’s decision to resume its war on Gaza on 18 March 2025, violating a ceasefire that had briefly offered Palestinians a fragile breath of normalcy. Since then, over 2,700 Palestinians have been killed and more than 7,400 injured, most of them women and children, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.
Since 7 October 2023, Gaza has counted over 52,000 dead and nearly 120,000 wounded. More than 14,000 remain missing beneath the ruins of what used to be homes. The numbers are staggering, but each one carries a name, a family, a story—now silenced under Israel’s relentless fire.
