At dawn on Tuesday, a Palestinian journalist was assassinated by an Israeli drone strike inside a hospital in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza. Hassan Islayh, who was receiving treatment for injuries from a previous Israeli attack, was killed as he lay in the burns unit of the Nasser Medical Complex.
The targeted bombing of a hospital treating the wounded reflects a deepening disregard for international law in Gaza. Islayh, known for documenting the destruction endured by his people, became the 215th journalist killed since the beginning of Israel’s war on Gaza.
This latest attack underscores the systematic targeting not only of civilians, but also of those bearing witness to their suffering. As hospitals are reduced to rubble and journalists silenced, Palestinians continue to demand international accountability — not just in words, but through legal action. The call for justice echoes louder with every strike.
