Gaza Faces Famine As Israel Tightens Blockade and Restricts Aid

The Palestinian government in Gaza has warned of an accelerating humanitarian catastrophe, with famine spreading across the Strip as Israel continues to block food, medicine, and fuel. Over 500,000 people now face severe hunger, while aid agencies report that starvation is being used as a weapon of war.

UN officials describe scenes of desperation as food warehouses sit empty and families scavenge for scraps. The UN’s top expert on food rights has accused Israel of deliberately starving civilians, calling it a violation of international law that amounts to collective punishment.

Despite mounting global condemnation, Israel has further restricted aid access, introducing a new system that humanitarian groups say is inadequate and dangerous. With most supplies blocked for months, children are dying of malnutrition, while the international community fails to act. Gaza’s government holds Israel fully responsible for what it calls a "slow motion massacre" unfolding under siege.
