“The Israeli El Al airline plans to operate the first direct flight to the Moroccan capital, Rabat, tomorrow Tuesday, since the announcement of the resumption of relations between the two parties,” according to an Israeli TV channel.
There was no official Moroccan announcement regarding that trip, but the Kingdom of Morocco announced, on Thursday, that it decided to launch activating procedures for resuming flights and contacts with the Israeli side, without specifying a date for that.
"The flags of the countries of Israel, Morocco, and the United States will be placed on the plane, in addition to the word (peace) in Hebrew, Arabic, and English," the TV7 Israeli news channel added.
An American and Israeli delegations will be on the flight from Tel Aviv to Rabat.
According to the channel, It is expected that the American delegation will be headed by Jared Kushner, advisor and son-in-law to President Donald Trump, while the Israeli delegation will be headed by, Meir Ben-Shabat, Chief of Staff for National Security.
Two Israeli airlines, including El Al, which the largest airline in Israel, on 10 December, announced that they were ready to operate direct flights between Tel Aviv and Morocco.
This came after Trump announcing the Morocco and Israel agreement to normalize the relations between them.
Tuesday's trip is not the first one between the two countries, as Rabat and Tel Aviv used to have low-level diplomatic relations, which Morocco stopped in the wake of the outbreak of the second Palestinian Intifada, Al-Aqsa Intifada in 2000.
With the Moroccan announcement about resubmitting the diplomatic relations between Morocco and Tel Aviv, it would become the only Maghreb country that maintains relations with the Israel, after Mauritania cut ties with Tel Aviv in 2010.
In addition, the UAE and Bahrain signed, in an unprecedented Gulf move, in mid-September, two agreements with Israel to normalize relations in Washington.
Thus, Abu Dhabi and Manama joined Jordan and Egypt, which are bound by two peace agreements with Israel since 1994 and 1979.
Trump, on 23 October, announced the agreement of Sudan and Israel to normalize relations between them.
The resumption and normalization the relations with Tel Aviv sparked widespread Arab popular anger, in light of the continued Israeli Occupation of Arab lands beside the Israeli rejection of establishing an independent Palestinian state.
