A senior Palestinian official has sharply criticised U.S. President Donald Trump for dismissing reports of famine in Gaza, accusing him of amplifying Israeli disinformation and offering political cover for the ongoing siege and bombardment.
The remarks came as aid agencies continue to warn of mass starvation and a collapsing healthcare system in Gaza, where dozens of children have reportedly died from hunger. Trump's denial has been condemned by Palestinian leaders and rights groups, who argue it mirrors long‑debunked Israeli claims aimed at deflecting accountability for the crisis.
Humanitarian bodies, including the United Nations, have repeatedly confirmed the existence of famine conditions exacerbated by Israel’s blockade on food and medicine. Recent findings reported by Reuters also challenged U.S. allegations that Palestinian groups were diverting aid, noting a lack of evidence and pointing instead to repeated Israeli strikes on security escorts for relief convoys, which have fuelled chaos and looting.
As the war drags into its 661st day, Gaza’s population remains trapped between relentless airstrikes and starvation, with aid access severely restricted. International agencies continue to warn that without immediate and unfettered relief, the enclave faces a disaster of historic proportions.
