Samir Zaqout has accused the United States of enabling genocide in Gaza, warning that the enclave is now suffering from "engineered starvation," where food and humanitarian aid are deliberately weaponised to crush its population.
He described how famine has plagued Gaza for nearly two years, with only a brief respite during a temporary ceasefire. Today, families survive on a single meal a day, if that, and many endure days without eating, leaving children, the elderly, and the sick in peril. He called this hunger a "carefully managed crime," far removed from any natural disaster, but instead part of a deliberate Israeli strategy to starve civilians into submission.
Zaqout dismissed the proposed visit of US envoy David Witkoff as "an insult to human intelligence," arguing that Washington’s complicity is clear as it shields Israel from accountability despite an International Criminal Court arrest warrant for Israeli leaders over the use of starvation as a weapon of war. He condemned the destruction of Gaza’s infrastructure, the targeting of residential areas, and attacks on medical facilities, which have left hospitals stripped of even the most basic resources.
"Justice will not elude those who orchestrated, supported, or stayed silent in the face of this crime," he warned, insisting that Gaza will neither forgive nor forget. He said this deliberate policy of starvation represents not only a moral collapse but a grave violation of international law demanding immediate action from a world that has, so far, chosen to look away.
