Jeremy Corbyn Launches “Your Party” with Focus on Grassroots Struggles and Palestine Solidarity

Jeremy Corbyn has launched Your Party in Blackburn, drawing more than a thousand supporters to its first official gathering. The new political movement, spearheaded alongside MPs Zarah Sultana and Adnan Hussain, was presented as a coalition rooted in working-class voices, diversity, and opposition to the political establishment.

The event emphasised the party’s community-based vision, with Hussain opening by recalling his family’s migration to Britain and framing the movement as one that seeks to give power back to ordinary people. Loud applause followed his declaration that the party stood not for the elite, but for the working class, and his call to imagine “a United Kingdom with Jeremy Corbyn as the Prime Minister.”

Palestine solidarity ran through much of the evening, with chants of “Free Palestine” breaking out as Corbyn took the stage. Linking the UK’s domestic struggles to foreign policy, he criticised Britain’s complicity in wars and global inequality, and condemned Israel’s ongoing expansionism and occupation. His remarks underscored the movement’s alignment with international justice as part of its broader social mission.

Speakers highlighted the diversity of the crowd, noting that attendees reflected Britain across backgrounds and faiths. Jewish Voice for Labour representatives addressed the issue of antisemitism accusations that have long shadowed Corbyn, arguing that such claims had been used to shield Israel from criticism. The atmosphere made clear that support for Palestine remains central to the party’s identity, even as tensions around Zionism and leadership persist.

The Blackburn launch displayed both enthusiasm and challenges ahead: while Your Party has energised a broad grassroots base, it must now navigate questions over how it differentiates itself from Labour and how it addresses sensitive debates without undermining its credibility.
