Demonstration at Paris Airport Targets French Military Exports to Israel

At Paris–Charles de Gaulle Airport on Saturday 25 October, pro-Palestinian activists gathered to protest France’s export of arms and dual-use components to Israel. The action, supported by major trade unions including CGT Roissy, FO and SUD Aérien, highlighted concerns about the logistical role the airport plays in supplying military material bound for conflicts. Demonstrators demanded an immediate halt to all shipments which they say contribute to continual offensive operations.

Journalists have reported that a recent investigation uncovered a French company, Sermat, which supplied alternators and other components destined for drones used by the Israeli military. Although these items are used in weapon systems, they were not classified as military material under French export rules, enabling their shipment without the usual authorisation. The protestors argue this loophole permits continued supply even as other European states suspend their military exports to Israel.

The demonstration fits into a broader strategy combining legal challenges, union action and NGO advocacy to pressure the French government. Critics warn that France may be failing to uphold its international obligations by allowing arms and dual-use exports that could be used in operations characterised by the term ‘genocidal war’. The protestors assert this raises serious questions about state responsibility and ethical export-control policy.
