Israeli Bombardment Reduces Homes to Rubble Despite Gaza Ceasefire

In Gaza, the echoes of explosions returned to the skies that were meant to be silent. On Sunday, Israeli forces resumed the bombardment of residential areas across the Strip, shattering what little calm the ceasefire of 10 October had promised. From Khan Younis in the south to Gaza City in the north, families once again fled their homes under clouds of smoke and dust, clutching what few belongings they could carry.

Witnesses described relentless shelling in eastern Khan Younis, where several residential buildings were levelled to the ground amid heavy gunfire and air raids. Similar strikes were reported east of Jabalia, Rafah, and Deir al-Balah, each name now a familiar synonym for loss. In Gaza City, artillery fire struck the Al-Tuffah neighbourhood, reigniting fear among residents who had only just begun to rebuild their shattered lives.

The renewed bombardments, coming less than a month into the ceasefire, have deepened despair among civilians who had dared to hope for respite. Humanitarian workers say these attacks further complicate efforts to deliver aid to communities already crippled by shortages and displacement. For Gaza’s people, the promise of peace remains painfully fragile, a ceasefire in name only, as the sound of shelling once again replaces the silence of survival.
