Israeli Airstrike on Displaced Families’ Tents Kills Six in Khan Younis

At least six people, including two children, were killed and more than thirty injured on Wednesday evening after an airstrike targeted tents housing displaced families in the Al-Najaat Camp, located in the Mawasi area west of Khan Younis in southern Gaza. The attack caused widespread devastation, destroying numerous tents and scattering shrapnel across the densely populated camp. Medical teams at the Kuwait Specialized Field Hospital reported that victims were recovered under challenging conditions amid severe shortages of resources.

The strike claimed the lives of Fawzi Ali Abu Hussein, Bilal Fathi Abu Hussein, and Mohammed Fathi Abu Hussein, among others. Dozens of injured civilians were transported to local hospitals, with medical staff struggling to provide care due to damaged infrastructure and limited supplies. Families displaced by previous attacks now face further displacement and trauma as a result of this latest strike.

Officials and activists have described the airstrike on civilian shelters as a blatant breach of the ceasefire. Authorities in Gaza called for immediate international intervention, stressing that attacks on displaced families’ tents constitute war crimes and demonstrate a disregard for civilian protection under international law. The ongoing bombardment, including artillery shelling in eastern Gaza and explosive devices detonated near residential areas, has caused casualties among women, children, and journalists, further deepening the humanitarian crisis across the Strip.

In southern Gaza, Israeli forces reported injuries to four soldiers during operations in Rafah, citing clashes with armed groups emerging from underground tunnels. Meanwhile, the overall humanitarian situation remains critical as airstrikes and targeted explosions continue to threaten civilian life despite a declared ceasefire.
