Iran has sharply criticised Israel’s ongoing military actions in Gaza, describing continued bombardment and restrictions on humanitarian access as part of a wider genocidal war that, it argues, is sustained by external support. Speaking at a press briefing on Monday, the Iranian foreign ministry’s spokesperson said that backing Israel politically or militarily amounts to direct complicity in the devastation unfolding across the territory.
The spokesperson accused Israel of systematic breaches of international humanitarian law, citing attacks on civilians and the obstruction of aid as evidence of crimes that demand urgent accountability. He argued that the international community bears responsibility for acting decisively to halt these violations and ensure those responsible are brought before justice, warning that statements without enforcement only prolong suffering.
Particular criticism was directed at the United States and other states supplying military assistance, which Iran said has emboldened Israel to continue its actions not only in Gaza, but also in neighbouring regions including Lebanon and Syria. The spokesperson added that repeated breaches of ceasefire arrangements reflect a pattern of impunity, reinforced by what he described as the silence or inaction of those tasked with guaranteeing such agreements.
Despite announcements of ceasefires in Gaza and Lebanon, Iran claimed that deadly operations have continued, undermining regional stability and international security. Since a fragile truce came into force in October, hundreds of Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, with large areas remaining inaccessible due to the continued presence of Israeli forces.
Iran concluded by calling for concrete international measures to curb what it described as escalating threats to peace, insisting that failure to act would further entrench a reality of unchecked violence and collective punishment.
