Gaza Truce Undermined as Israeli Attacks Persist Across the Strip

Israeli military operations continued across the Gaza Strip on Thursday, despite the ceasefire that was meant to mark a pause in the genocidal war. Air attacks were reported in both Gaza City and Khan Younis, while heavy fire and widespread destruction were recorded in several eastern and northern areas, deepening fears that the truce exists largely on paper.

In the early hours of the morning, warplanes struck eastern districts of Gaza City, followed shortly by further attacks in the eastern parts of Khan Younis in the south. Residents also reported sustained fire from military vehicles positioned near Gaza City, alongside artillery shells landing close to the al-Bureij refugee camp. The shelling extended towards northern neighbourhoods, adding to the sense of constant insecurity faced by civilians.

Further north, entire residential structures were demolished east of Jabalia refugee camp, continuing a pattern of destruction that has characterised the genocidal war. These developments unfolded just as international officials spoke of a new political phase and post-war reconstruction, highlighting a stark contrast between diplomatic rhetoric and realities on the ground. Since the ceasefire came into force last October, repeated breaches have been documented, with daily life in Gaza remaining shaped by fear, displacement and loss.
