Since the ceasefire was agreed, Gaza’s authorities have reported a relentless wave of violations by the occupying forces, casting doubt over the fragile agreement. Ismail Thawabta, head of Gaza’s Government Media Office, warned that the truce is on the brink, as repeated breaches have left civilians exposed to escalating violence.
Thawabta revealed that, in the 111 days since the agreement took effect, the occupying forces have carried out more than 1,450 breaches, resulting in over 530 deaths. He stressed that these actions are not isolated incidents but part of a broader pattern of systematic attacks, which continue unabated in the absence of international accountability.
The Gaza official also condemned what he described as the international community’s silence, noting that the failure of mediators and guarantor nations to act effectively only emboldens the occupation. He called for urgent intervention to enforce the agreement and to publicly identify the party responsible for its repeated violations. Thawabta warned that if the global actors remain passive, the occupation may take further measures to dismantle the ceasefire entirely, with devastating consequences for the civilian population.
