Five Palestinians were injured on Saturday after Israeli settlers launched another attack in the occupied West Bank, according to Palestinian sources. The assault reportedly took place near the village of Kisan, in an area known as Rashayda. Residents said a group of settlers opened fire on villagers while also using knives and stones during the raid.
Local officials reported that two of the wounded were struck by live ammunition. The mayor of the village, Musa Abayat, said the attackers also seized around one hundred sheep during the incident, describing the raid as part of what he called “daily assaults” targeting Palestinian communities in the area. Witnesses said Israeli soldiers arrived afterwards but detained several of the injured Palestinians instead of the settlers involved in the attack.
Violence by settlers has surged across the occupied West Bank since the events of 7 October 2023 and the genocidal war that followed in the Gaza Strip. Despite a ceasefire announced in October, attacks against Palestinian villages have continued, fuelling widespread fear among rural communities already living under occupation.
Humanitarian monitors report that at least five Palestinians have been killed by settlers in the West Bank since the beginning of March alone. The territory, which has remained under Israeli occupation since the Six-Day War, has witnessed a steady escalation of raids, land seizures and violence, leaving many Palestinian residents increasingly vulnerable to armed settler groups.
