Armed Settlers Seize Elderly Man in West Bank Village as Fears Grow for His Safety

An elderly Palestinian man has been forcibly taken by armed settlers in the occupied West Bank, prompting urgent concern among his family and local residents. The incident occurred in the village of Far’ata, east of Qalqilya, where tensions have remained high amid ongoing violence linked to the wider genocidal war.

According to relatives, the man, identified as Shaher Al-Tawil, in his sixties, was on his way to his land when a group of four settlers intercepted him. Travelling in a pickup truck, they reportedly approached from the direction of the nearby settlement of Havat Gilad before detaining him at gunpoint and taking him to an unknown location. Since then, no information has emerged regarding his whereabouts or condition.

Family members have expressed deep fears for his safety, citing a pattern of escalating attacks by settlers in surrounding areas. Residents say such incidents have become increasingly frequent, with individuals often targeted while tending to their land or travelling between villages. The absence of immediate information about the man’s fate has heightened anxiety within the community.

The abduction underscores the growing vulnerability of civilians in rural parts of the West Bank, where access to farmland has become increasingly dangerous. As violence continues to spread beyond Gaza, concerns are mounting that these incidents form part of a broader pattern that leaves families exposed and without protection.
