Hamas rejects UN “Peace Council” report, accusing it of distorting ceasefire realities in Gaza

Hamas has rejected the findings of a report presented to the UN Security Council by the so-called “Peace Council”, arguing that it misrepresents the situation in Gaza and shields the Israeli government from accountability over daily violations of the ceasefire framework.

In a statement, the movement said the report overlooks what it describes as systematic non-compliance with commitments, including restrictions on border crossings and the continued blocking of shelter materials and essential infrastructure repair equipment. It added that such measures are obstructing basic recovery efforts across the Gaza Strip following months of genocidal war.

The statement also dismissed claims that Hamas is responsible for delaying reconstruction, insisting it has repeatedly expressed readiness to transfer administrative responsibilities in Gaza to a national committee. It said that attempts to frame governance issues as the main obstacle ignore the broader realities on the ground, including restrictions preventing the committee’s deployment.

Hamas further criticised references in the report to disarmament conditions, describing them as externally imposed and disconnected from the agreed ceasefire framework. It called on international actors to avoid adopting narratives it attributes to Israel, and instead to ensure the implementation of existing commitments, particularly an end to daily genocidal war measures affecting civilians in Gaza.
