Prisoner Imad Al-Batran from Hebron, south of the occupied West Bank, has been continuing his open hunger strike for 38 days against his administrative detention in a harsh health condition.
The head of the Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Committee, Major General Qadri Abu Bakr, said, "Al-Batran is in a difficult health condition and has continued his open hunger strike for 37 days against his administrative detention."
Abu Bakr added "Israel insists and continues to isolate him and try to pressure him to end his strike," stressing that "the administrative judgment on the prisoner has no meaning and the occupation has no justification for his arrest."
The prisoners in the Israeli prisons suffer difficult living conditions, as a result of repressive practices, collective punishment, and denial of their most basic legitimate rights stipulated by international law, said Abu Bakr
About 30 prisoners in the Israeli prisons before the Oslo agreement, despite the existence of an agreement for their release, among them are prisoners who were freed and were re-arrested, and until now they are still in the prisons despite all international interventions.
