Media Forum calls for accountability of the murderers of journalists Murtaja and Abu Hussein

The Palestinian Media Forum on Sunday called for accountability for the killers of journalists Yasser Murtaja and Ahmed Abu Hussein, who were assassinated by the Israeli forces during their coverage of the 2018–2019 Gaza border protests.

This came during a visit by a delegation from the forum to the families of the two martyrs, Murtaja and Abu Hussein, which included its president, Khader al-Jamali, a member of the Board of Directors, Nabil Sununu, the Forum’s director, Muhammad Yassin, and the public relations employee, Mahmoud al-Darfeel.

Al-Jamali renewed during his speech the demand for the need to prosecute and hold accountable the killers of the colleagues Murtaja and Abu Hussein, stressing that the crimes of Israel are not subject to the statute of limitations.

He explained that the Israeli forces deliberately target journalists, either by direct killing or with injuries and arrest.

The Israeli forces recently arrested three journalists, especially colleague Alaa al-Rimawi, who has been on an open hunger strike for the second week in a row, he added.

Al-Jamali called for an end to the Israeli violations against Palestinian journalists and to provide them with protection, especially in light of the deliberate targeting of them in various ways.
