The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has voiced grave concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, stressing that no child in the 21st century should die because they lack basic necessities such as blankets, warm clothing, or shoes.
The agency highlighted the devastating impact of the ongoing blockade and escalating violence, which have left thousands of families struggling to meet their most basic needs amidst freezing winter temperatures. Children, in particular, face heightened risks of hypothermia and other preventable conditions.
UNRWA has called on the international community to urgently increase humanitarian aid to Gaza, ensuring that essential items like clothing, shoes, and blankets reach those in dire need.
“Protecting children from preventable suffering and death is a shared responsibility,” UNRWA stated, urging immediate action to avert further tragedy in the besieged enclave.
This plea underscores the severe humanitarian challenges in Gaza and the urgent need for global solidarity to alleviate the suffering of its residents.
