Five More Die of Starvation in Gaza as Famine Tightens Grip

The humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza worsened on Sunday as al‑Shifa Hospital confirmed that five more people, including two children, had died of hunger within 24 hours. Hospitals already pushed beyond their limits are now recording increasing deaths from malnutrition, with doctors warning that they are unable to cope under the dire conditions.

Medical staff report that at least 21 children have died in the past three days across several facilities, including Al‑Aqsa Hospital and Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis. Many healthcare workers are collapsing from hunger themselves, unable to properly treat patients while their own strength deteriorates.

According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, at least 127 people, including 85 children, have died of starvation since the start of the war, as the blockade has strangled access to food and medical supplies. International bodies, including the World Health Organization and UNICEF, warn that more than a million residents are facing extreme food insecurity, describing the crisis as entirely preventable.

The ongoing closure of aid crossings has turned Gaza’s famine into an unfolding tragedy that threatens thousands more lives. Calls from around the world continue to demand urgent humanitarian access and an immediate lifting of the blockade to halt further deaths.
